Contrast therapy: Alternating between the infrared sauna and cold plunge
Contrast treatment has the following advantages:
It improves blood flow and oxygenation.
Reduces inflammation and discomfort in the muscles
Improves recovery
Improves the operation of the immune system
Enhances mood and general well-being
The recommended approach for contrast treatment is to spend 10-15 minutes in a sauna, followed by 1-3 minutes in a cold plunge. This cycle should be repeated for at least 2 cycles, ending on cold. Progressively raise the intensity of contrast therapy over time, beginning with lower temperatures and shorter durations and eventually progressing to longer durations.
Contrast treatment is supported by scientific research as an effective approach to improve sports performance and aid in recuperation. It is crucial to remember, however, that contrast therapy may not be appropriate for everyone, especially those with specific medical disorders, existing heart conditions, or injuries. Before beginning any new exercise or rehabilitation regimen, always consult with your physician.
Altering between a sauna and a cold plunge before or after a workout can provide additional benefits such as better circulation, less inflammation, and improved recovery.

Medical Journal Articles:
This far-infrared sauna article states the following:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3699878/
“FIR [far infrared] sauna therapy has been used to improve cardiac and vascular function and reduce oxidative stress in patients with chronic heart failure [28]. Beever [29] asked whether FIR saunas could have a beneficial effect on quality of life in those patients with type II diabetes. The study consisted of 20 min, three times weekly infrared sauna sessions, over a period of 3 months. Physical health, general health, social functioning indices, and visual analogue scales (VAS) measurements for stress and fatigue all improved in the treatment group. A study of patients with rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis showed a reduction in pain, stiffness, and fatigue during infrared sauna therapy [30].”
